Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

It's a pretty nice update, i was really looking forward to the "object baking" from a highres mesh onto a lowres version. I attempted this a lot in 201, without success, now i know why :P

(Still hoping for a Linux version and Maxwell plug-in)

wow Max ! Thanks for pointing this my friend... I wonder if he really displace the mesh.. or..? looks so incredible...

I'd say Power of Maxwell... but also power of Modo... !

yeahhh, I hope it will be a soon release !..

So Max... how's the job.. cool..? what are you doing (if I can ask... hehe-

Hervé

BTW, let's hope we can somehow cook that solution to be able to import it in Maxwell..

Real vertex displacement, indeed. What attracts me even more about this is that they must have had some kind of core rewrite to handle so much geometry, because 202 is still pretty lousy when it comes to that. So hopefully this will mean not just a "sculpting-mode" but a general viewport speed increase.
yeahhh, I hope it will be a soon release !..
Could be half a year, could be a year. It's really more of a distant tech preview (they showed animation capabilities in '05 for instance) and Brad said that if you need sculpting right now, you shouldn't wait for Modo and go with ZBrush/Mudbox.
BTW, let's hope we can somehow cook that solution to be able to import it in Maxwell..
Maxwell Displacement would be sweet :D

reel vertex displacement you think..? maybe... well too bad he did the video in smooth shading more.. I was hoping we could see the resulting mesh.. maybe a secret technique they use... who knows..

at a certain point at the end of the movie you can see the selected mesh and it doesn't look like subdivided that much for vertex displacement.

True but the sculpting he does looks very much like it, even if it's not in the mega polygon range. Maybe some new concept or maybe local subdivision?
