Wow

I'm really shocked that no one using Maxwell wen't to this conference. I had a good time and got to meet Victor and Juan face to face and was able to talk to each of them for some time. I have to say that I feel much better about Maxwell as a product than I did before the conference.
They were up against some pretty stiff competition; Vray had a lecture there where they showed off their new version which was quite impressive. What was most telling about their presentation was that they are basically playing catch-up with Maxwell. All their new features like a physical sky or physical camera were just blatant attempts to match what Maxwell can already do. They did have some neat tricks but when it comes down to it Maxwell was the inavator and all the others were just trying to keep pace.
I was probably the only person in the room of 300+ people who was using Maxwell on a professional basis. Everyone I talked to was using Vray, but I did find that people were interested in Maxwell. Most people still hadn’t heard of it or had read a few things about it but had never tried it. The biggest complaint that I got from people who knew something about it was the long render times. In fact no one ever complained about it's quality, they were more concerned about how long it took to get images out the door which I have to say is a very valid concern.
Next year the conference is going to be in San Diego and Juan told me that Next Limit would be there. I hope that next year Next Limit will see fit to have their own lecture where they can demonstrate Maxwell's speed and power and start attracting more people from the Architectural community.
