Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Degree - no degree - each makes their own way.

Only advice I would give - Choose what you want to do with your heart and use your intelligence to make a career in it. Do not do it the otherway around or you will regret it when you turn 40.

here in berlin, some days ago it was 35 degrees :)

as for myself, i have a degree as architect and in the CGI area i'm working in (architectural viz) this makes my clients feel 'at home' somehow. they can talk from pro to pro, which is a big advantage in this area.

the downside of this is that sometimes my clients think that designing is simply part of the visualization process. so some of the real estate business man i got in contact with want to pay for an image and get the building design for free!

no sure I understand Markus.... they want to pay you as an Illustrator (arhviz) but they want the plans (base design) for free... do you do also the base plans....

sure they feel home if you are architect yourself... this is why here in Lux, I've had no chance with architects... they don"t feel home with me... hehe  :D

markus - I completely understand what you mean.

I have a degree in Mechanical engineering and one in Industrial Design so I'm not really in the sphere of Arch Viz but the same applies in my work.

Engineers give a sigh of releif when they can explain the workings of the design without having to dumb it down.

I too occasionally get asked to 'just' create a visual of a concept - to generate interest in a project. People assume the "visual should" a workable design as if designing is a simple process that come through the visualization process. The trouble with Maxwell is that the model is just too realistic !!! and people think the design is complete. It takes alot of explaining to say that actually the product does not exist and they need to spend $100k to develop it . :D .
