Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

I agree! I've just been through displacement hell with the Max Displacement modifier. It wasn't worth it...just wasn't worth it.

To bump Wendy's request a bit again i do want to see displacement soon, not meaning in 12 months but earlier than that please if possible.

And if the displacement could be of the classical rendertime micropoly displacement on a bsdf per layer basis, meaning you can add a displacement for each bsdf layer, control strength/intensity with maps as we do now when creating other materials. And you could control the complexity of your displacements by inputting a value X, so the higher value X is the more detailed your displacement will be and the better it will look.

Preview of the displacements in the materialedit should also be possible by using the RS1 engine, and how well the preview displacements are rendered could be adjusted by a setting in the materialeditor preview preferences box.

Please NL we need our precious displacements as soon as it is possible. Some info about this would be helpful for us all.

Herve,
I found your last quote on here a little worrying seeing that you are on the a-team. Obviously you would like to see displacement in maxwell, but being on the a-team I find it strange you do not have a more direct route for your wish than this forum where they don't even announce that a new plugin has been released for nearly a month (houdini) in the announcements even though it is on their homepage, Victor only seems to post to topics that are in binary code these days  . Anyway maybe I'm just feeling a bit paranoid but I thought the a-team would have a better channel of communication than this forum. (do you, I would love to know, because if you guys don't know what is going on, I'll stop wasting my time here.)

Dear friends,

As you know A-Team members put their efforts under NDA and they are not authorized to make official announcements. You will always be informed with newsletters, the website and with the announcement section of this forum. Beside, A-Team members also have their personal rights to response like a 3rd eye within the boundaries of NDA. They may not think or talk uniformly about uncertain points and we shouldn't judge them because they are different individuals having their own ideas. Simply, they are your friends as well as they are our friends. In the end, we are all the elements of same big set. This is the basis of balance between confidentiality and sincerity. I wish we could avoid troubles within these parties.

About displacement, we have it on development timeline and we will let you know when it will be available. Until then, no word will make it real.

Best regards,
Tom

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
