Core 2 duo E6600 is attractive.

That's my target! :)

In some benchmars, E6400 is superior to FX-62, but more cheap.

Very interesting.

Yes, AMD X2 is great Processor.

but Intel's new dualcore is looks good too.

If we consider a upgrade our system, we'd better wait until user's benchmark result like Pietro speed test.

And that time, X2 prices would be down maybe.

"quad-core Kentsfield in 2007 1Q" hmmm... a dual quad (or quad quad) would be nice. Another license delima?

yes very soon all chips in graphic pcs will have at least 2cores or even 4.

it is time that sockets are counted, as winxp does it already. not cores as nL still does. this is really a bit outdated.

The quad cores are probably gonna be overly expensive for a long time. I really thought about getting a dual quad-core setup though, as my first real powerful workstation.

well, not really. even the fastest x2 runs slower than the fx-62, but it looks like that e6700 outperfoms it everywhere. and it's half the price.

yes, it seems the e6700 is gonna make the x2's look like a bunch of knob jockeys...

I'd go with the 6600 if i had to choose. Seemingly the same architecture as the two top models, an estimated 3xx quid, probably lots of ocing headroom.

is there a chance that there will be quad socket boards for four Core 2 Duo processors?

i heard they are «multiprocessor-able»... but i'm not sure...

?

- i take back my statement, i was under the impressive a 4-socket woodcrest platform is definitely planned. But it seems they're steering towards 2 sockets to later on go from 2 to 4 cores per chip.

ok thanks for explaining. actually I do copy the T[…]
