no it is not:-) !

i find v1 much better than beta, sorry.

it need some more thinking of course, we now have more than 5 materials;-)

no really, v1 needs some improvements for cooprender and cleaning some bugs and worklfow, but beside that v1 is much better in my opinion.

cheers

This really shouldn’t be posted as proof that V1 is superior to the beta; this was done back in May of 05 and as far as I'm concerned it looks more realistic than your example.

I agree I would prefer to work with the old beta and all of its problems than with V1, if cooperative rendering worked in the beta I'd be happy.

If beta had the material editor / multi light/ coop render / HDR support from v1.0 I'd be perfectly content with things :)

In terms of features V1 is better than beta.
In terms of output, the beta beats V1 fair and square. Much more eye-satisfying results.

More features doesn't mean better pictures. No offence but peeps who don't see that pictures done with beta are way better are probably blind.

Odd way to compare things.. beta and 1.0 differs so much, without all the knowledge and what changed from beta to 1.0 how can you know that 1.0 produces a poor output compared to the beta. You can't! it's all based on what you think you see, not what you actually know for a fact. I don't think beta is so super amazing as you guys try to make it, to elevate it into a God like state is simply weird. This looks more like yet another angle of attack upon 1.0 to "blacklist" it and make it appear bad.

Hi all (and 8etty),

Can you list here (place some links) images from beta that were pivotal in making you buy Maxwell in the first place and that you think they have quality that is now impossible to achieve with 1.0 ?

(It would be nice to have some good reference samples)

Thanks,
Thomas

Its easy see the difference to anyone with an objective eye, V1 has yet to produce images that are superior to the beta, and after a year of waiting that's plane ridiculous. You are correct the beta and V1 are totally different creatures and from what I've seen the evolutionary process peaked with the beta.

Thomas, go to the Maxwell home page and look in the Architectural gallery, those are the pictures that sold Maxwell to a majority of people and still are as far as I'm concerned.

I just have a look at the gallery and it's true that since a long time we haven't seen so nice rendering. But I don't think it's due to the quality of the new render engine. V1 can produced some amazing shot, I'm still conviced about that. But may be most of the users who made these picture already left maxwell's world...??? Also at that time, maxwell was NEW and as a new toys, people tried a lot and gave their best to build amazing picture... That time passed now maxwell is a tool.

On more thing, as industrial designer I'm due to keep my work secret (more than a year) until I get an authorisation to reveal it. If most of the user are like me so their is thousand of work who can be shown. And some of them are surely great.
Lets give some time and I'm sure some amazing picture will be shared.

Hyltom,
These are some good points. As the novelty wears off there is less motivation to impress.

Maxer,
In the gallery I count 31 pages of archtectural images and 39 pages of non architectural images. This gives (IMHO) a slightly different impression of proportions in regards to majority.

Thomas I don't know what you’re talking about, I meant the majority of images in the gallery were produced by the beta. I only used the architectural section as an example because that is the field I'm interested in. It doesn’t matter 95% of the images in the gallery were produced by the beta and that is what NL used to sell Maxwell to most of us.

So you think it's a lack of talent and interest that is responsible for the lack of quality imagery, I think that’s a convenient excuse. Have you ever wondered why we haven't seen any nice imagery from the A-Team, I mean they had months to work with V1 and in all that time no one had a chance to produce any WOW type of work?

Mike did it with an R2D2 shot. But it's not an architecture work, so can't impressed you I guess. And most of his work can't be shown...

And yes, for sure I also wonder why the other A-Team member never make an amazing rendering...may be they lack of time or...
