Everything related to Maxwell Render and general stuff that doesn't fit in other categories.

Just did a test today and found out that the iMac G5 is a bit faster. Although the Macbook runs on two processors as it should after ten minutes the iMac had a slight advantage in SL and Benchmarks. Results looked more or less the same.

I thought the two processors at 2Gh in my Macbook pro (2Gb ram) where outperforming my iMac 1,8Gh G5 (1 Gb ram).
I suppose Maxwell is rendering under Rosetta while the iMacis just going without any emulation.

Good to know for those who think the Intels have any advantage.
Could anyone else test as well, maybe its just me and my laptop and two iMac's.

So v1.0 of maxwell works fine in your iMAC G5... because i can run v1.0 and rc5 on my iMAC G5 2.0Gh only beta...

Did you set the thread number accordingly?

if you have 2 cores(MacBook), then you must set the Thread in Maxwell to 2 .

The MacBook should be quite a lot faster!

BUT then again, there is no MacIntel Universal Binary version of Maxwell (or is there ??), so I guess Rosetta is the culprit.

i don't know where to set thread mode on 2, still the Macbook pro runs with both processors at 196%. I am not sure how threadmode would effect to a better performance. I will have a look at the manual. As it is my iMac renders faster than my Macbook pro even though it has only one processor
thanks for mentioning this

you mean render treadmode, had that on 2 so it must be rosetta that slows rendering down. Strange isn't it, the iMac at 1,8Gh with only 1 Gb ram is faster than the 2Gh with 2Gb ram Macbook pro. C4D is now much faster on the new duo-core intel macs since its universal binary.

there is no native version of maxwell foir the ne intel based macs.

so maxwell is probably running unde Rosetta, whicvh is an emulation of os x PPC
