Repro from a fresh start of MAX 6:

1) Go to material editor
2) Pick a material slot
3) Change material to MAXWELL: MXM material
4) Name the material something other than "Default x"
5) Save the scene
6) Reload the scene

Note that after step 6, the name you picked in step 4 has been replaced with a generic "Default x" name.

This bug may be present in all versions of MAX, but I have only tested it with 6.

I was just going to post about this, and I'm also using Max 6. What a PITA. I hope this fix makes the first patch.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. But, on the bright side, I haven't had any problems with the MAX plug-in otherwise, so that's a good thing. If they fixed this bug, I'd be pretty much bug-free on the MAX side of things right now (although I've used things for all of 2 days, so, never count your chickens :) ).

Hello,

in MAX 8 (SP3) it is the same problem.

One more: if you do a double click in the mat-slot or do a refresh then MAX crashes!
