it's well known that betty can't read any chart if it's not written in bazinga units.

It would be helpful if we had a little list of typical or good values for real materials. I've been setting everything to Nd=5, but I have no idea whether it would look better at 3 or 20 instead, and I frankly don't have time to spend doing my own testing. I need to produce about around 14 renderings this week, and they are all being done in M~R (I hope).

Hi superbad,

I don't know if Maxwell Render is your first engine or not, but you can use the same values when rendering with other engines. Maxwell is not a barrier at this point.

Best regards,

I'm coming from Photoworks, so I have no experience in a lot of "real" rendering stuff. :)

I am so glad there were misunderstandings in this post.

It made great Sunday morning giggles.

Basically put....The ND system does not need to be fixed as far as the coding inside maxwell is concerned. The ND parameter works correctly.

What will be fixed is the material database that was based on the OLD ND system which now would not work with the NEW ND parameters.

When the curent material database is replaced with the new material database it will input the correct ND values for the selection you make.

Until then, pay attention to the ND value when using the material wizard.

Class dismissed.

One question for NL or A-Team.

Is it possible that Maxwell could be set to have ND 3.0 as a default setting for new materials in the Maxwell interface?

Just a thought.
