QUESTION: What will be fixed?
ANSWER: Nd values in obsolete material presets will be changed.

MXMs will be resaved and sent to you back. Meanwhile you can do it too, very easy, please follow these steps.
1-Open material preset which is giving unexpected black results.
2-See Nd=1.0 and change it to Nd>=3.0
3-Preview and overwrite material.

These above 3 steps are called "fixing a material preset" and this is what will provide as soon as possible. So we say, "Sorry, we will fix obsolete material presets and send them back to you".

Still unclear?
i guess this is only a studio issue?.. the plugins preset materials cant be fixed?.. :?

Material preset means pre-saved MXM files, it's not related to Studio, nor plugins. This is an author mistake, not a software bug.

No, because for your good, the manual is not completely written by me. :D

back to the topic:

here a test i made to understand how different ND settings come out in the rendering.

sorry for the poor quality, but i forgot to set the rendering time higher than 2 hours...

as far as i can see, (and as tom said :wink: ) the rougher the mat, the less ND setting affects.

and, the color at roughness 0 disappears when ND is set higher than 3. -> it turns to a perfect mirror.

at 2bsdf layer plastic mat ican´t see any effect...

Very nice test environment arch4d. You can't see the effect emphasized with 2 bsdf because it's diminished by the weight of specular component.;)

For making such tests, I strongly suggest 1 object for 1 scene at the same location. You'll have more precise comparisions ;)
