For dxf export, did you turn on 3D face? Better to import dxf into 3DMax. 3ds is a very old format.

here the steps:
- in Archicad you must turn the 3D window on, in perspective.
- then save your model in .3ds format.
- in 3D Studio you have to install a plugin for Archicad import (http://plugins.angstraum.at --> Archicad import wizard)
- use the instructions of the plugin
- enjoy

I wouldn't use 3DS either. If you're using DXF or DWG you can adjust the scale of the drawing on import.



It's important to work at the correct scale, otherwise you will have problems with accuracy in Max.

Hi. I have a archicad file, wich I want import as 3D into 3dstudiomax 7. I have tried both dfx and dwg...

There's a utility in max (the tab with the hammer icon) called "Rescale world units" which may help you.
