I had the same problem.

I restart the computer and the 1st render OK

if i make the secounf render black again... if restart the 1st is OK again.

think it´s a problem with the texture name...
perhaps too long or some non latin characters?

try renaming the texture into somthing like w1.jpg...

goncalo and arch4d, thanks for responding. I just wanted to remind you that I moved this thread to Maxwell Render. When I posted originally, there was almost no traffic through here and so I moved. My apologies if that was not clear to you.

My three wood textures are labelled: deckwd, deckwd.2 and deckwd.3.

I think it is a bug. I'm probably wrong but, that is what it seems to be.
