I dunno but as cool as the materials look, the model is not really convincing me that this could be the real car. You really need to tighten up those surface edges. They seem to bulge a bit (not flush with the surfaces themselves) and the radius on the edges seem too big.

Hmm you're right dutch_designer some of the shut lines do need tightening.....I could go on tweeking forever :)

Tim, here are my car paint settings. Pretty simple I think I adjusted the weight to 50/50 although I don't know if it made much difference

Thankyou very much Nick.

EDIT-- Just seen the updates, looking good. Apart from the things you mentioned, I think the wheel rim material could be improved.

No Problem Tim.

Yeah the rims look alot whiter in those shots although that could be the lighting. I'll play around with my lighting setup and see if that helps and play around with the shader if it doesn't :)

Ok folks here are some updates.

Still a WIP.
Things that still bug me:
Headlights shape need slight tweeking.
Tail lights look terrible
Need to model slr interior (stand in at present)
Tyres need bump map (can't get it to work)and more shine on facing surfaces
Bump maps and subtle details

Apart from that its perfect :D

I'm working on the interior and should have more updates in a couple of days

Any comments and crits are welcomed.

thanks for sharing your carpaint shader!
I had a question about why the bottom layer has a low roughness and why the top one has a higher roughness, but ill try to replicate variations on to see how thisworked out..

Thanks for your comments guys. They really keep me fired up to finish this beast.

Peter, thanks for pointing that out. I noticed it after the render, I did think about photoshoping it out but for critique I left it in. I've fixed that and adjusted the weight on the shut lines so they're looking tighter.
I should point out that this is only the second car I've built usually do characters, so I'm pretty chuffed with it :D

Btw if anyone else is thinking of modelling this car I found a great site yesterday with some nice QTVR exterior and interior shots.
Wish I had found it a week ago :!:
