Hi there...
sorry about my english !

while trying to render over night with my PowerMac G5 dual 2.7 the process causes a serious problem and the computer just freeze and the fans start to spin real fast.

This issue was in the Maxwell Beta, and now in RC5.
I must say that this is happen just with Maxwell and in Hardware test that I did recently, everything was OK.

I try to find some clue about this and found this in Console:
"Jan 24 03:15:01 Power-Mac-G5 cp: error processing extended attributes: Operation not permitted"

this is not so nice to hear this loudness fans first thing in the morning, knowing the machine is like that for hours !!

someone here experience with that issue ?

Don't use CHUD tool, it made my G5 dual 2.5 to get in a "safe" mode, were the machine freeze and the fans start to work really hard.

It is for safety reasons that the fans start to work that hard, so they ensure that the cpus etc. is cooled enough.

But it is a horrible noise when they start.

And sometimes it happens anyway eaven if you don't use the CHUD tool.

I would suggest to check your RAM first, and use memtest to do it:
http://www.memtestosx.org/

Defect RAM can stay undetected for quite a while...

I would 2nd Kabe suggestion
I had 12 months of intermittent freezes and crashes with my 3D App and Adobe apps.....I thought it was just unstable.

I finally got hold of someone at Apple who made me do a mem test (there is one on the original hardware disks somewhere) and it turned up the bad RAM......I exchanged it (the store was very good about it) and I have never had a crash since.....nothing at all. Now I enjoy my Mac more than ever!

I don't think I use this tools, I don't realy know what they use for....

just did it yesterday, everything is ok, BUT, decided to uninstall ALL memory sims out and install others from different computer. after a night off render with them, everything was OK !

I will do one more test tonight and hope that the problem solved.
