1. Mayall still sets itself as default renderer every time.
2. For some reason Maxwell are unable to "attach" it's own MXI's, and aborts exporting from Maya.
3. "Render" button in Maya still doesn't work - only menu item.

1) Hmm.. that's possible.

2) MXI's disabled.

3) Yes it does.. how weird. CHeck your system path/env variables, but I'm doing it right now as I type this with no problem. BUt if you're a maya dude, hit the .mxs export and open in Studio for materials anyway.

Third bug lasts at least for two last versions of Mayall, ppl mentioned it earlier.
Will try now Studio...

PS: Mike, when you're sleeping, huh? ;)

What version of mayall are you using? Sure it's the right one? Once I got tripped up with Mayall-within-a-mayall thing.

I've renamed old directory, Maya doesn't see it.

Btw, the very special distinction of the latest Mayall is that it got all the files in it with low-case names, which is wrong, but not fatal.

I can't say that RC5's one is better. This overbright area near light is sooo unnatural...and whole image atmosphere is different at all.

Most times the settings don't translate 1:1 from previous versions. The differences between beta and RC are not exaggerated by nature like it appears from the comparisons... Here is an example of a 1:1 compare from beta to RC 5 (no materials, just testing light propogation)

With no textures (aside from a quick mat on the ground) to get in the way of your perception, you can see much more clearly how alike, and in which ways the RC is subtlier more accurate in its light propogation.

Yes, somehow the RC5 seems to have better light propagation and color-bleeding than the beta 1.2.2a.

very nice Mike

btw... did you use the same JPG-Compression for both pictures...

The beta-image seems to have some artifacts that looks like a
"lower-jpg".

:?:

cheers
