haha the following is a quote from the scanner-website:

"Die Modellierung realer Gegenstände ist mittels einer Modellierung von Hand praktisch nicht mit einem 100%igen Wiedererkennungswert zu leisten.

Im Unterschied dazu können mit dem neuen System auch künstlerisch weniger routinierte Anwender ohne Schwierigkeiten dreidimensionale Abbilder realer Gegenstände gewinnen."

its says that typically modelling "by hand" (im sure they mean with a 3d-app) can not garanty a 100% recognizing effect of the original modell;) hehe did they never take a look on websites like this or cgtalk? i love this marketing blabla :P

:: incredible how some of this technology has been around for more than half a century! Only the digitization tools are inovating...
If anyone looks at the history of rapid prototyping you'll find the same techniques used at the first half of the last centurry, probably before... :roll:
