Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

sorry micha but i don't get what you mean. light from emitter is normals dependant already, what do you mean by "light in direction of the surface normal"?

The light comes out of the plane more like a window now, yes in the direction of the normal but it's not parallel. I guess that's what Micha ment. If you want parallel light beams currently you have to put the emitter in a container which can add to render time due to bounces.

actually, does a plane emitter emits light starting at borders for now....? (like LW area lights..?)

Yes putting the emitter in a tube makes it a bit like a canon light with its long tube, forcing the light to go "almost " staright...

Nice idea... to imitate sunlight too.... paralell rays... very nice.. but then the shadows would be very hard... mmmm I guess you said mxi mapped then you could also soften the borders, while keeping straight rays of light....

Nice idea again Micha....

... some days befor I have build a lightsource like this - an emitter with a stretched fence in front like thousand little tubes. It was extrem slow, but I have projected a blury image from the MXI emitter to a plane.

I'd like to see the result of that effort Micha. Would be very interesting.

yes, i second this one, a Parrellel light emmiter would be very handy!

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
