I hope NL won't mind but to take some bandwidth load off their server
i can host the movie on my server for some time.. i have a good
enough connection on a fast server to do this so here we go. :)

{Edit] : I removed the file now from my server, sorry.

The video demonstrates two separate features. One is not dependent on the other. 8)

Great work NL! I like the level adjust and light isolation for emitters. Pretty powerful. In essence you can through selection keep certain emitters from contributing to the light distribution.

Nothing to say, my brother. It's all right there!! A picture is worth a thousand words, and all that. Perhaps you just can't believe your eyes. I'd understand that 8)

Ok, I think I got the coop mxi feature, so I take an educated guess
on this one:

It starts with five separate rendered mxi, and it doesn't matter if these were
rendered by different nodes or just by one.

 Now these 5 results are loaded in "layers", and now you can adjust
their contribution in the final image using an intensity slider.

It's a nice feature, especially as it works in the MXI space, but except that
(which is a certified nice thing) it looks "just" like layers.

Except that it can obviously put out mxis as render results I didn't spot
the second feature yet ;-)

Kabe my dear, it's not like you think :D

1st feature - You can combine individual render sessions of same MXS instantly.
2nd feature - Independent of first feature, you can independently alter lightsources in realtime for the first time in the history of independence.

in the name of valentine's day :P

People, there is nothing convoluted about it.

The first feature is the coop rendering (seperate files merging into one)

The second feature is the ability to indipendently adjust the emitter intensities on any single MXI.

Not explained on-the-fly with networking, it's a demonstration of offline usage. See merging MXI files into one manually.

Oh, and it looks like we should be able to adjust film iso and shutter speed "post shot" - I could see this for ISO, but as shutter speed influences (well, it should ;-) ) motion blur, I can't see that.

Well, i took a closer look at that vid and I must admit that the realtime light function/slide looks totally f*cking cool...I mean, really,...

For coop render, not sure really...Does this mean there are no plans for distributed render in the works? (eg. 5 nodes working together simultaeneously (?!) on the same image?) The same image is distributed on all nodes then merged afterwards?

Oh, and can we get a soundtrack for the avi? Mike?

:)

That's not what's happening. The combination of separate .mxi's rendered cooperatively into one file is one thing. The realtime interactive lighting is a separate thing. You don't need separate passes for separate lights. You can just do a regular old render, only control your lights separately during, and after the render, in realtime. Just re-read that a few times.
