Jesper,

This temporary problem is directly related to 3dsmax plugin. There's no problem with MXCL about this.

Tom

Problem is you can't change channels on locked projectors :-(

JesperW,

It's not about locked projectors, you just need to change it from the image loader panel and save MXM.

I assigned the reflectance to 1 and the transmitance to 2
That is what I did...

Tom could you download the file at the beginning of this thread and output the maxwell file> open it in studio and do what you're saying can be done?

pluMet, you should do it from 3dsmax with launching MXED. Also you didn't provide *.mxm files in your zip.
Please follow these steps:

Tom- I have done what you said...No Go.

I have updated the file at the beginning of this thread and included the .mxm

Please let me know why it doesn't work.

The Reflectance is projector 1 and transmitance is projector 2. It's as simple as one can get.

I got it to render...I didn't understand that for every projector you need another uvw map (I thought it would be automatic.)

now I have another problem... Clipmaps.

This isn't how it was before. Are you saying that we need to add UV Map modifiers to the stack for bump and for reflectance (and for each other instance where we use a map)?

I'm waiting for an update of the max plug-in that fixes this situation before I even bother with this release.

Glad I can't use it right now. Hopefully NL will put out a REAL release by the time I'm settled in to my new digs........

Guess they can't blame this release on us users this time around.....

That's what I thought when listening to the explanation but no...Just when you load your map change the projector to 1 instead of zero. It sucks to have to remember to do it with every map but you only need to use 2 or 3 or whatever if you use additional uvw mapping. IT"S JUST LIKE IN MAX when you choose which UVW channel to use (so you hardly use it (anything above 1 that is.))

I must be an idiot or something, I still can't get this to work.
If I change the projector numbers of my material to 1 and 2, and change the Max UVW channels to 2 and 3, the plugin still creates to projectors using 0 and 1, and the render won't run. I can't change the object projector numbers in Studio because they're locked.

I'm not going thru studio so I can't say...but that sounds wrong to me. If max uses UVW mapping channel 1 and 2 then Maxwell projector should be 1 and 2.

It's just that Maxwell defaults at 0 but max defaults at 1 so you have to change maxwell to 1 to match Max. Then any further mapping will just go up 'cause both Max and Maxwell need to go up together.

The thing that got me confused is that apparently the bump channel needs to be on projector 2 or above. Which means that in max you have to copy/paste the uvw mapping and set the copy to 2nd channel so that when you put Maxwell on projector 2 it will match.

I added 3 friggin' uv maps to a flower and it still won't render because of a uv channel error. And the uv map modifier totally screws up the appearance of the flower.

OK, I think I get it now. What you say is true. PLUS you need to create different UVW Channels if you have several maps in the material, it seems the same projector can't be reused or something.

I can't even get a simple plane to render without:
"Error: UVW channels (1) on object "plane01" not enough for material "boards-01"

I've tried changing the projector map on just the bump, on just the diffuse..and then on both. No combination will render.

So, what's the secret projector combination needed to get this thing to render a simple textured plane.
