yeah, good start. just a couple of modelling issues: those curtains don't look "natural" and i'm not sure about the shape of the eames' chairs.

Can i give some comments on this too.. hope so, ok here they come :)

- I think the lamp is too big for a dinnertable, it fits more in a larger space like a livingroom
- Fix the curtains as the others mentioned
- Those glasses cast a too bright and strong specular reflection onto the table, it takes the attention away from other things in the scene.
- Add a lamp above the painting on the wall
- How about some fruits in the artistic bowl on the table ;)
- Personally i would switch to more comfy chairs, but that's just me..

Other than this you done a good job! :)
Keep on Maxwelling

thanks a lot for the response. the curtains are still a wip i am planning to use cloth sim to make them more "real" this is just the starting point for the sim. i got to say though it took 8hrs to reach 20 samples on this sceen and i still had to use a niose filter. is it my settings or maxwell that is the cause

But 20 samples in 8 hours isn't bad at all, you gotta have a pretty fast machine :)

Noise is ofcourse due to the way Maxwell calculates, just let it run over night or when you're at work, then you have less noise in it. However noise isn't necessarily a bad thing, if you use the noise to your advantage it'll look better than the typically clean Vray renderings that has zero noise in them. ;)

It looks like you used default abbe settings on the glass, this way it will take a LOT longer to clear up because of the dispersion effect. If you're not interested in this effect then turn the abbe up over 150 and it will clear much faster.

yes i have a very fast machine dual xeon 3.6 w/ 6gb ram and dual nvidia 3400 on sli and the original was rendered at 1600x1200

thanks for the tip on the glass i will try it.
as for the blinds they look better before i cliped out the alpha. i think the alpha mask that it created is a liitle off.

please forgive if I repeat other's comments.

- Curtains... been covered

- There is a scale issue throughout... the floor moulding is at least 2x too tall.. the chairs seem too small for the table, the lamp is too large, etc. Check the actual dimension of real world objects and match that...

- some sort of wierdness with the blinds near the bottom, some are missing?

- reduce the colour of the 'object d'art' on the table, it's catching way too much light and dominates the image. It also appears to be magically balancing on it's round end.

- Most people would place a painting between the two windows (centred).

- Window treatments often are mounted right above the windowframe due to the fact that there would be more support for mounting at that point then floating below the ceiling level. There is a topbrace above window where most treatments are screwed into. Just a thought.

- The glass used in the goblets has too high of a refractive index... experiment with other glass... plus set the aber(?) to 150 to remove the coloured noise. Might be a good idea to have only two glasses (two chairs, two people, two glasses) Plus perhaps add a bottle of wine/sherry/vodka... otherwise kinda wierd just orphaned glasses all by themselves.

- A larger texture on the floor might help to avoid the repeaties. (repeating wood texture on the floor gives away it's CG origins) :)

that's all I see... it's a good start, and a good image... the mood is great, the colours and design is good... it's an image worthy of finishing.
