Hello again,

I have an really incredibly dumb newbie question: What/were in the interface is the "Maxwell viewer"? (see explanation below)

"Open the Maxwell viewer and load your texture using the File menu options. Then save it as an mxi file."

windows:

start - programs - next limit - maxwell - maxwell viewer :-)

then

file - load image (jpg for instance) - save as mxi

Oh, I see...that simple. I was way off :) he he

What about the settings. Should I just save it as is (looks darker
than original jpeg) or should I do some adjustments?

yes, you set the f-stop, shutterspeed and iso the way you will set it in the
scene. then play with the intensity slider until you think its what you want
and then save the file as mxi.

that file you you load in the mxi map slot in the material editor in your scene
for the mxi material. forget the other settings of the material, just load the
mxi map.
