no way the 32bit 1.5 is faster than 1.1

no mater which scene, it always needs more time to reach the next SL

Yeah kinda odd, and quite disappointing. I guess you can always run the 32bit if you're not on Linux, but i would've really enjoyed maxing out system memory and having a fast core.

Thanks for the tests Leftside!

Hi Tom .....

I can honestly say, .. I never touch the sliders. EDIT: ..apparently I do ..

________

but !, ... just to make sure something screwy didn't happen, .... I'll rerun ...

** Despite the speed issue , .. IMO,..the final render w/1.5 does look better.

I'll repost thos SS's as well ......

** Also Tom, .. we are only looking at the first 60 seconds of a render, .... so it may be to premature to assess the gamma thing ... ???

I haven't tested, but I notice that it *seems* to take longer for 1.5 to "fill in" the lighting than 1.1. Things look darker for longer IMO, but after around sl11 or 12 it seems to be about the same.

Not sure if it applies to the apparent gamma issue - but there you have it.

I'm pretty sure the darkness is not about insufficient SL.

Tom,

How about the apparent speed issue with the 64bit version of 1.5

Is this something Nextlimit are aware of?

Thanks in advnace for your help

Rob, personally it's a bit surprising to me because I have two 64-bit nodes here using 64 bit edition (Pentium D820 and Core2Duo E6300) without any speed problems. You know, they both have max 2 threads each. So, maybe the problem appears on the machines having more threads. And especially I do not have such darkness with this scene, my 64-bit tests generates outputs like the image on the right. So, I suspect this could be a problem.

Tom,

OK, thanks for this, perhaps I should repeat the test but limit the threads to two?.

Tom, ..... you are correct. The re-render has no gamma issues..

I'm re-uploading the revised comparisons ......

The speed issue remains, ....

Thanks for the re-test. Can you upload each side by side instead of anim gifs. It's not easy to compare since they are playing out of sync. PNG would be better. Thank you!

No problem Tom ... I don't know what happened, .. but I usually don't .. lol..

Anyway, .. updated above ( as if you can't see it .. :P)

No PNG's this time,... I'd have to re-render both and save out properly, ... JPEG is the best I've got for now ..... not great, ...but not terrible.

;)

If I'm not asking too much, can you also provide SL for each?
