We cannot really go by the status of an unreleased or alpha product like Vray for Maya. That will have to remain for when it is actually released. The same could go for Maxwell when version 1.0 is released.
I think the best you can do at this moment is suggest to Next Limit how you feel about the rendernodes and give them the time to respond as to why they intend to offer the number of nodes with a standard license of Maxwell.
I have to ask, did Vray in its version 1.0 come with some many free nodes?
This is only the 9th revision of the first alpha version. I do believe speed will come. As fast as Vray, maybe, maybe not.Nick Angus wrote:Michal, I totally agree with everything you have said, I am afraid when Vray is released for Maya, with it's 11 free rendernodes, it will completely take over the market.
I have also been testing Turtle, but it has the same problem (it is nowhere near the quality of Maxwell but it is fast) but they are only selling one node licenses for US$1200, I can tell you for a fact they are not selling many licenses!! (and when Vray is released for Maya, I don't think they will sell any at all)
I just don't see Maxwell getting fast enough to use in prodution without multiple machines, so unfortunately the future for Maxwell doesn't look as bright as I had hoped.
Cheers, Nick
