I have been doing most by modeling/texturing from Sketchup to 3d studio to Maxwell.

I find 3d studio's control over Maxwell textures to be alot more thorough and easier to use. Also, it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much quicker to go straight from textured model to MX, especially when you revise models often like in a producation environment...

I've worked out alot of the process and elimnated my biggest problem -- uvw channel errors now... i'll post tutorial on my website on how i do it all soon.. until then.. scripts i am using in 3d studio are here(these work alot better then doing a 'group by texture' ruby command which takes a billion years to run)

I modified a script i found to help elimante the UVW channels errors i was getting in maxwell. thought i'd share it...

at moment, i belief it messes up on multi-materials within multi-materials

3d Maxwell Tools

The latter i use for a quick conversion of textures, though i am currently working on a new version just for sketchup to 3ds use where

* Materials beginning with PL- are coverted to plastic
* '' w. GL- are converted to dieletric
* '' w. MTL- are converted to metal

thought i'd share my work and get some feedback, comments, ideas, and etc etc
