It looks like a permissions problem but I think I've given myself full permissions to the plugin folder and subfolders. (Never had to do that before). But then it says "error opening file for writing," as if the problem is with the downloaded files themselves.

I'm running the Photoshop (and Maya) plugins with no problems.

There is a bug in the installer. Maybe you can ignore the error and the installer can go on, but better you install the last early build:
