this was touched on in another thread below, but thought I would ask more directly. Is there any difference in the current v2 AGS-wizard-created material (from the Rhino plugin) from 1.8?

I read it (perhaps incorrectly) like maybe it was not, so that makes me wonder if ther will be a different AGS material coming?

My glass is a little foggy on this subject

No, there's not much difference, because, well...there is no AGS wizard in the current plugin, and there wasn't one in previous plugins. :) There will be in the next update though...

To answer the core of your question though, AGS is a bit easier to build in V2, due to the Opacity parameter on layer components - just make a mirror BSDF and then adjust its parent layer's Opacity. There are other ways too, but that's the simplest one.

I must have downloaded the AGS mxm

So the AGS components remain the same for v2, i.e. nothing "added". It will just be easier to create AGS from scratch if we don't have it already, right?

Well, where in V1 you would have two bsdfs, you are going to want to separate them out into separate layers...but that should be done automatically when opening a V1 AGS material in V2, whether by importing a V1 mxm file, or just by opening an old scene.

And yes, it will be easier to build them from scratch now, since you can do it with one layer/bsdf & opacity. It's just a much more intuitive approach.

ok, thx for the clarifications. I see that the scene with v1 materials I opened with Rhino v5/MW v2 now has the two layers for the AGS glass.
