I agree this is very rude, and, especially because there is no communication/apology/explanation on this point. It is very hard on the user base, once again ...

hi goncalo nice to see you here!

i can only repeat the same, and add that all of the friends i've recommended to buy a license (and there are more than one!!) on OSX are now rather angry.
also, i'm really pissed off because i can not use my second license since from the beginning of alpha testing because the network app was never even built on OSX. still now also we are treated as 'second class' users. i would not stay here and complain if the software was freeware, but i did pay the same price for the software as windows users, and even if there was a special price, 640 EUR are not a joke! this is simply disappointing at least.

This forum is turning very very ugly. So much anger, hate and bickering. Even among the users. Everyone is upset, even the window's users. Anyway, maybe there have been some mistakes in the handling of this product but really the only thing to do is to let go of MW for a while, let NL finish their coding, even if its December, or January, hell even Feb. i doubt that the majority of us bought it thinking, I'll model in 2005 and in 2006 I'll have MW to render my next Finding Nemo. So guys, we all need to take a chill pill and concentrate on something else in the mean time. We're all upset and I am assuming at this point the NL team, owners and/or managers are pretty pissed as well (imagine your product launch going through this!)
by the way, when they do get MW finally out, I for one vote to archive this entire forum and start over. Don't shoot me yet! we really can't do anything else but wait. We all make mistake, even if that mistake was to buy a beta product, and NL to promise a launch date. So...

Its all a bit too much for me.
I have been over eager to receive Maxwell and I sometimes think over patient.
The OS X side of things seem a bit unsupported and I use Lightwave with it.
I don't mind getting involved in early developement software and even being used as a Lab Rat,
but give us a solid road map to work from, so then we can plan too.

Play fare and you will always have our support.

yazan, of course! this is the voice of reason - which is always the best to follow, but some loud disagreement with what happened is important too, especially if we want to have a better product and a better user support in the future.
the point is, why didn't we get on all platforms a well working and maybe not perfect and complete - but working! - core renderer and decent plugins?

probably the development of the 'studio' with all its interface problems could have been done as a second development line and incorporated when ready and tested...

but apparently it was not the first goal to produce a solid and working solution for the early supporting client (and with his money which was probably a foundation for development), but something for better marketing (and calling it 'studio') which of course, being much more complex (it's a complete 3d app, not anymore a renderer) failed to meet all the deadlines initially set.

i really hope that the original idea of having a renderer interfaced by plugins in the best possible way to our favourite 3d app has not been abandoned on the way! i really don't need yet another 3d app with all the workflow problems related to it...

my 2 cents of (maybe polemical) interpretation

nigel: what you say is fair enough
mgroeteke: I agree and I see your point clearly
congellous: I'd rather consider it hibernating, but I don't think anyone ever left the reliable! this was a beta product! and this is still rc. i diagree with it being rubbish and dead in 6 months though.

Raspu wrote:Hi, I use a mac, maxwell and cinema.

I´m using maxwell for my renders and i don´t have problems.

I think about the time of code a program like maxwell, with all plugings to every plataform and the compilation to three OS.

Are you sure that Rome was create in only one day.?

I,m sure about the people of NL have a hardwork today to make every plugin and every OS compilation.

If NL close the download version of the previous versions, I understand everything.

ciao,

Raspu.
hi raspu, for what i can see you didn't use dielectrics, transparency or texture maps in your renderings, that's why you didn't have lots of problems with your renderings from C4D. also, as already pointed out, there still is no way to use more than one license in cooperative mode on macs.

rome wasn't built in one day, but a software of which the developer claims to have worked on for 3 years and calls it release candidate should be a bit more advanced and stable. i couldn't test the RC because of the 'wrong' platform, but if i read that in RC2 textures are 'temporally' disabled, i would not say that this are qualities of a release candidate 3d renderer.

i personally guess we will have to wait some more months until it will get those qualities, but of course i hope i'm wrong...

When I preordered and paid Maxwell Render in March 2005 the first surprise was they didn't have a C4D plugin for the Mac. I was promised, however: "The final 1.0 Maxwell version will be released in June 2005." Now we have December and all they can offer is an incomplete rc version full to the brim with bugs, no manual, no support. And - needless to say - for the time being its only for windows.

I'm sorry, but such business conduct is simply unreliable and dubious. NL should at least have informed their customers frankly and precociously about the delays (an apology or two would also have been appropriate.)

I don't mind to be patient over a reasonable space of time, but I hate to be stringed along.

Hello All

Yes, still no Mac release. (DISAPPOINTING)
I hope it is only a few more days now before release.
If they can comb out the flaws in the RC3 release now,
surely it will help with the Mac Versions when they released it.

true. what is still disappointing is that still we are completely ignored as customers. not even one word about the osx version in the new announcement mail by NL. i'm gonna underline that until we get a better treatment. :!:
