I was thinking last night, since we base the render time in minutes, why not make the desired render time in: hh:mm:ss so instead of entering 1200 minutes which would be 20 hours you would just write in 20:00:00
or if you just want to test render write down 00:00:35 which would be 35 sec.
Another suggestion would be for sampling level progress.
right now maxwell updates on every new sampling level reached. I'd like to see option where you can specify the update time, say every nth seconds or minutes.

Also I think it seems a little silly to me that if it doesn't update the sampling before the designated time is reached you lose all of that calculation.

in fact it's not the case. even if the next sampling level is not reached, say the next one being 15, and the render stops at 14.50, you don't loose anything since maxwell updates and stores this exact sl in the mxi (i guess you're referring to the re-rendering option here, but the same is true for any output pic). when you resume the render it will start from 14.50 not 14. plus maxwell updates and saves the output image every ten minutes, more or less.
