On windowz they have .bat files that can execute a batch of DOS commands, what is the equivalent on the MacOSX?

In MacOSX you have several options:

1. unix shell scripts

2. Applescript

3. Automator (if you are running Mac OS 10.4)

Wow automator with m~r would be fantastic for a donkey like me

Do you think it would be possible to use automator for batch rendering with m~r?
It would be nice if someone share some automator workflow for m~r
