Hi,

I've recently upgraded to v2.7, opened some old scenes, hit render and maxwell comes up with missing bitmap errors. Some bitmaps display Chinese looking font in the error.
Is there a way to turn off missing bitmaps ? so it will still render ? At least this way I can see which materials are causing problems and adjust them and not worry about anything else that is not visible in the shot.

cheers

Are these scenes created with the 1.x plug-in? Could you send me one of them, please? I don't need the textures, just the scene, to see why it gets the paths wrong.

I don't think there's a way to make Maxwell render even if it can't find the textures.

I'll see if I have a backup of a the scene, since I just converted the materials to 2.7.

Yes it is possible it was created with v1.x.

Also why does Maxwell attached itself to all cameras ? even if they are not maxwell cameras ? Maxwells UI parameters are at the bottom of every camera.

Okay just makes the interface messing when your using a different renderer to Maxwell.
I'm using Thea and I have Maxwell parameters on the camera, doesn't make any sense. If it was a standard 3dsmax camera then fine or if Maxwell was selected as the renderer.

You can still render with Maxwell from that camera, and if you do, Maxwell has to read the parameters from somewhere. We can't know it's a camera type created by another renderer plug-in, and even if we did, we can't assume nobody is ever going to try to render with Maxwell from it.

Actually, I don't really understand why other renderers register their own camera types. A renderer should be able to use any camera from Max, not just its own type. The ability to make plug-in cameras was added in Max so that developers can customize what the camera does in Scanline (and in a very limited way).

Well I guess we disagree, but you must think its strange to have Maxwell settings on another renders camera ?

We don't disagree. It's weird, but I explained that we don't know when a camera is added by another renderer, and why we need to have the parameters there even if we knew that. I also think Thea shouldn't have its own camera type, but that's a different discussion.
