Hello there,

still trying to make an exterior view of a commercial building. By reducing the emitters I was able to boost the performance.

Now there seems to be another 'problem': I can not activate direct sunlight: Activating the checkbox 'Sun' under 'Atmosphere' in Studio does not make no difference.
There are no sharp shadows and the scene seems to be a little bit too dark. Increasing the 'Sun' value lightens brightens the scene overall but does not activate direct sun, just diffuse lighting.

Environment Type is set to 'Physical Sky', Atmosphere and Aerosol properties are at default settings.

May this be a known bug in Maxwell 2.1 Studio/ Maxwell? Is there a way to activate direct sunlight via script? Maybe this is a workaraound?

Thanks for hints and comments,
Umdrehung

P.S. The original mxs was generated by Sketchup 8. When I make a test scene in Sketchup 8 an export to Studio, everything works fine. Direct sun can be activated or deactivated. Sharp shadows just as expected.

It may be because of the regular emitters also present in the scene. Maxwell will try to balance the calculations involved for both Sunlight and the emitters, so in this case it will take longer to see the sharp shadows and lighting you expect with direct sun on. Try hiding the rest of you emitters and check. Do your emitters have realistic values for lumens/watts? If you set them too high it can slow things down more...
