Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

I like some of the results I have seen so far.

But is it just me, but I am noticing a trend of less WIP and Gallery postings?

Still want it, but this recession is not letting me!

You're right, there has not been a lot of renderings posted in the main gallery and wip, things seems to been moving kinda slow here lately.
And i'm in the same boat as you are d7, i would love to upgrade but i simply cannot afford to do that so i kinda moved over to Modo these days and im betatesting TheaRender instead. Still i can't help missing Maxwell, it's THE renderer of renderers out there. :(

I see it too . I thought there will be much more WIP threads and many of great gallery updates, but only few shows.

I think rest of world is not so far from maxwell quality and sometimes faster you get your render.

BIG hard MTF nail to maxwell 2.0 coffin is this hillarious "per rendernode" license policy.
NL sales one heavy lazy slow , oh god how slow renderer and don,t let you use more PCs to let it be any faster. This is the most riddiculus marketing move I have ever seen.
NL should sell maxwell with +3 PCs free instead of forcing us to pay for extra rendernode licencses ;)

for example - assume You bought a platform(carriage, trolei) to sell people hot dogs. But You have to push this heavy, big truck to touristic village every day. If you have sons to help you with this Next Limit (producer) tell you to PAY FOR YOUR SONS HELP !! they don't work on their own. they don,t own another platform, they just help to be in place till deadline.
If you can't use son's help You everyday will be late for work, and one day You will die like dog, or You will throw this slow heavy one to garbage (You are not allowed to sell this one) and buy new from other company that don't give a ***** how many children will help you (at least you dont have renderfarm)

In my country one rendernode license is worth - about good PC, with quadcore CPU
If I have to spend money I would do this for hardware.
If users could use unlimited renderslaves numer - there would be much more spectacular renders and galleries - It would spread all over the world and intrig other CG passionats , did You not remember BETA DAYS ?
there was no need to advertise. everone knew what maxwell beta is.

in this days everyone knows - a yes , maxwell - spectacular results , but slow as turtle.
but still NL don,t let us fight on our own with this speed issue, NL force us to PAY FOR IT!

If you want to make our renderengine faster You have to pay.
If you want to breathe with two lungs You have to pay.
If you are from europe or asia You have to pay even more because of dollar-euro rating. I don't like to be treated as dumbass.

at the end - I think NL make a marketing bug in this all policy process. It would looks better If they sell standard license +3rendernodes free for a little much money. It would looks much much better.
But still, you cant make money taking advantage your horse is so slow. If vray allows you to use 10 slaves. maxwell should have unlimited slaves number to benefits it speedless.

There are some whispers about 20% discount, but there is so many new rendering solutions , GPU computing , another level in biased renders. I think most people and studios have dollars in their pocket and are waiting for revolution. maxwell have to evolwe to not get to the same place where brazil did.

zdeno-

I love your analogy...it's funny and true!

If you have V2 and OSX I'm not sure more rendernodes would help...you'd need to get it out of Studio which is soooo sluggish...I'm actually
seeing a 30 second delay between mouse movement and screen updating on a pretty basic (gallery -- interior). You can probably imagine
how maddening it is to set up a camera -- but that's another story.

:D We admit it is rather slow (unbiased renderers needs time) but our solutions give you masterpiece and awesome results with this all mouse movement lol ( i know I am pathetic laughing from my own sarcastic jokes).

oh dear!
please forgive me!

I put You (accidentaly) in very bad light with my big mouth.

But don't worry, all resources in NL working hard on GPU computing, They have no time to read forum.

GPU maxwell ! that sounds fantastic. This awesome results in 10% time.

I just keep wondering who actually told you NL is working on GPU-based Maxwell? :)

d7mcfc, i am in the same situation as You and Maximus. I would like to upgrade and support talented people for this great product. For me it would be enough to upgrade just one license now... Some people upgraded quickly, because they earn money with this software. Someone can say that it is my fault, that i can not earn money, but many of people similar like us will understand, that it is not that simple... For me it is not only about software, it is also about maxwell international comunity here, and a lot of interesting debates just about everything :) . Now in crysis times people must be more solidary in every aspect of life... i can send to You and Max 2 EUR,but it will be not enough :) . We can make poll about how much money we can pay for upgrade. I will start :) . I can upgrade for 80 EUR now, for 150 EUR in few months, for 400 EUR in 1-2 years. But who knows, if my economical situation will change (win Lotto), i will upgrade all licenses imediately.

as I said earlier I have no "mole" in NL ;) so I am assuming (predicting?) this GPU stuff (as I predicted colorfull multilight in V2), but considering almost all renderer business put at least one hand in GPU computing. NL did this too.
but If did not ... we are doomed
in France they also call it submarine... hehe
