I am about to create a partition or to install Ubutu onto a Flash drive, to be an alternative to rendering on my 32 bit XP system.

Here is what I would like to do for my workflow,

Configuration:

- Ubuntu installed on 16 gig Flash Drive along with Maxwell Studio and Render application
- Windows on drive C, mxm library on NTFS drive D
- Export mxm from Sketchup or Rhino in Windows to NTFS Drive D
- Boot Ubuntu for rendering and Saving files to NTFS Drive D

Would a 16 gig flash drive be practical for this? Also would I run into path problems saving my MXS in windows and then opening files in Studio on Ubuntu? What about Beryl? It looks very impressive.

I don't think Flash drive can be a problem if you do a full install. If you use "create a USB startup disk" you may have problem with the video driver. I could not run Studio. But maybe you are more lucky!
But If you use Ubuntu only to render it is fine, Maxwell Render is ok. Just don't use a dir in the flash as output as hard disk is more reliable.

And, I suggest, use a FAT32 D: drive, as you have a more deep compatibility with other OS.
