Its not really a benchmark , ..but I need a favor.

I'm curious whether having a lot of extensions/themes affects FF's opening time.

Would you mind listing how many themes/extensions you have and exactly how long FF takes to open from the moment you click open/run... ?

Pretty stupid, .. I know ...... humor me.

8 extensions
2 themes
8 seconds

What I think I've noticed is that over time, ..as I've added stuff, ..FF naturally looks for updates on all of them --- and it seems that slowly over time, ..the program takes longer and longer to open.

But maybe not .... LOL... I need some extra data .....

Why did you choose Denver ?

Is that the idea, ... further away is better ...?

edit: I guess it doesn't matter,..with the differences being marginal.

Also choosing different servers gives different speeds (usually a closer one is faster). The thing is when browsing online you are connecting with all kinds of servers, not necessarily close to you.

I did a few -- nothing significant though.

btw: That's a real nice site...

btw: This is a no-frills DSL connection -- I could get a cable, ..but there's a PITA factor I'm not yet ready to embrace. lol. But I'm liking my UL times ... :)

How much do you spend on DSL ?

26$ / month .... I don't know if that's good or bad. I haven't compared to what is currently being offered.

PS. Thank you Max for making me feel better next to Thomas' enviable DL speed.....

That's the thing. You probably get an average $50 for your phone bill ? if so then you end up with $76/mo.

On the other hand I have found that if you combine cable+vonage (and completely disconnect the conventional phone line) it comes out similar or cheaper (about $68/mo).

Yes. The crux is the Vonage or similar thing ...

Is that what your doing ? ...what's the experience ? I'm a little iffy on quality, perhaps I'm ungrounded on that... ?

Well, I have got Vonage since 2003 and have never looked back. Some people do not like it (you find mixed reviews), but for me it is the best thing since sliced bread.

PS. Vonage is higher quality than Skype
