I don't understand if blackle works as it says it does....

if my presumption is right that most of us are using a lcd screen then all the pixels are on and they are just covered with a different colored filter to change color... so regardless of what color they pixels are still on destroying the earth.....

anyone smarter that me to tell me whee I am wrong ?

It looks like this is more of a attempt to grab marketshares from Google by using the argument that users do this for the enviroment, they know it's a sensitive spot for many people and it's easy to trigger them by applying pressure to that point. You could also call it clever marketing.

I doubt this has much of an effect at all on the total power consumed in the world. The difference is probably minimal at best.

Eheh.. i got not only one of those old monitors but two of them i use. Definately need to dump these soon and invest in new flat monitors.

Actually one of them i found on the scrapyard about five years ago and the other i got from a friend when he upgraded to lcd.

No doubt about it ... they're selling a sustainable future where they can maintain a sustainable swindle of your pocket. lol ... I mean, ..come on ... if the future is looking more and more like some Mad Max Welcome to the Thunderdome scenario everyday--- even TPTB would probably find themselves averse to such conditions. lol.... ...even if they do have all the power/money. Is that the world anyone would choose ?

You know ... Google's whole thing, .. "Don't be evil". Its nice, ..it sounds nice and it's even nicer if they actually follow along with the sentiment and stay the course. But power corrupts and it's been said that absolute power corrupts absolutely. So the question is: Will Google actually be the first to break that paradigm ?? I don't know .. it can't be good when a single entity is demonstrating the capability to index the entirety of EVERYTHING.
