Hi all,

I just got a Wacom Intuos 3 9x12 graphics tablet. It kicks ass... It came with a mouse and a pen. My question is, has anyone used the Intuos Special Edition 4D Mouse (transparent)? I have a Logitech MX700 laser mouse, which I like very much. However, I could see using the tablet for everything. If you have the Intuos mouse, how do you like it (not the 3 button mouse that comes with the tablet).

Thanks and have a happy one...

Well, I have an intuos3 6x8 tablet and frankly, I hate using the mouse with it. I'd rather keep to my standard mouse because I feel so limited and awkward using the intuos mouse. However I do use the pen for most things now and very limited mouse use anyhow.

Dito. I got my intuos3 6x8 2 hours ago :) and a start to forget that there are mice around. :D I love it. Though I do not feel too uncomfortable with the intuos3-mouse, that came with the tablet. And it has 5 buttons by the way.

Here's what I've come up with. I tried using my Logitech mouse on the tablet; it works just fine. So, I'm going to get some little felt pads and put them on the Logitech and use that right on the tablet...

Don't you feel that the mouse is small and awkward though? I do agree it's nice having 5 buttons though.

That's my problem with the Intuos mouse; it's too small for my hand. I have carpal tunnel in both hands, little mice are a pain... the MX700 is chunky and feels right.

Loving the Wacom... :D :D

Yes, it's a bit small. You are right there.
I had used such a crappy mouse before, so the "new" one is lovely in comparison. But... it's not too hard for me, 'cause I'm not that much of a big boy.

Hi.

Due to the fact that we already have a wacom thread opened, I dare a little hijack...

A few posts ago I celebrated my new wacom intuos3 a5 (6x8), everything works great, I don't want to miss it and so on...

But now it comes: there is a first problem with using the wacom stuff: and now guess, which app makes the this problem?!
The MXCL viewer.

Whenever I use ANYTHING which is wacom, the viewer (while rendering) kind of freezes. As soon as I use an old standard mouse, everything works fine again.
Then again trying the wacom mouse or the wacom pen, the viewer kind of freezes again. Weird. Priority: low. No memory issues. Enough resources.
Maxwell Editor and Maxwell Studio though work perfectly with the wacom stuff. It's only the viewer, that causes that problem.

This is really bad, 'cause I need to be able to reach the sliders during the renderings.

Anyone experienced a similar problem? Is there a solution?

Thx. Mesut.

Go into Control Panel and Select Wacom Tablet Properties. Under "Tablet Mode" choose "Standard Mode". This is best for graphic applications; the "Recognition Data" mode is for hand-writing applications and uses maximum data rate. I suspect that the tablet is outputting alot of data during rendering.

Good luck.

Thx Mike.
But the tablet is in "Standard Mode". It came like that.
Anyway, I changed the mode for the test sake of it, to "recognition mode". No difference. Hmmm...

OK... shooting from the hip. It's an old probelm, but maybe have a look...

Are the mouse and the tablet sharing the same resources (IRQ's, etc.)? Have a look there and see if there might be some conflict...

You have my curiosity piqued... :?

Thx for so much attention Mike.

Took a look... but found no errors or conflicts whatsoever.
Everything is installed properly and works great.
It's only the mxcl viewer, that causes this problem during rendering.

Btw, it still does render... it just kind of freezes, when trying to use the wacom pen or the wacom mouse within the mxcl viewer during rendering process, and only DURING rendering process.

For example, when I click from one slider value to the next, it reacts 20-30 secs later, as if the mxcl viewer was heavily overloaded.
But when I use the old ps/2 mouse during that same rendering process, that's not the case. It reacts immediatly, just the way, we're used to.
Strange.

This same freezing happens to me with V-Ray, sometimes.
I have to change to mouse, if I need to do something while
comp is rendering. Weird.

All good now! Thx for your helping hands.

I found out, that the problem I described occurs ONLY with the one project, I opened as a first maxwell render project with the wacom stuff.
I should have tried out earlier with different scenes, could have saved us lots of time of wondering around... hmm.... really strange... everything works fine now, besides... yes, besides the one maxwell-project, that was the first one to be opened with the wacom stuff.

So glad, that this one was nothing important, but just a test geometry exported out of "SharpConstruct 0.12" (/Copyright 2006 Nicholas Bishop/), great piece of software btw... sculpting like...
But this freeware did not really cause the problem like frequently. Only in this first one. I can still export geometry out of it and render it without any probs.

Weird :? , but gone. :D

EDIT:
NOT GONE !! :?
I had to realize, that the problem occurs, whenever it wants to. Sometimes it shows up for a while / row of renders and really sucks!!, sometimes everything works normally... can't see any structure or pattern in it... maaaaaan....
