I cant find a Maxwell rollup in the modifiers panel for the MAX camera.

any suggestions? I get a warning message during render:
"could not get maxwell parameters for camera"

It sounds like you may have opened a scene done in a previous version, where there was still a separate camera specifically for Maxwell. If this is the case, delete the existing camera, and create a new one using the standard Max type.
