Thought I'd take a bit of a break from the artsy stuff, and try my hand at some architectural stuff. This'll be an on-going project where I do some before and after renderings of an old warehouse/factory converted into lofts. Still need to do a lot of work on the little details, like the i-beam joints and bases for the pillars, but I thought I'd post what I've come up with so far.
I originally was using a lofted spline for the sheet-metal siding, but it was killing my render times. So I went with a simple bump map and it's looking fine in these conditions. I also need to throw a 'specular' map for the i-beams - they are just too flat (even for a run down look). I may also try for a distressed painted look on them as well.
