Hi all,

I'm just about to embark on my first proper exterior rendering (nearly all of my work is interiors). The purpose of the render is to show both the client and local authorities how an existing hotel building will look when illuminated at night.

The building is right around the corner from me and I know the owners well, so getting photographs/sizes/details is no problem.

I would love to try this in Maxell as realism is going to be a priority. Has anyone tried a similar exerise? I would be very grateful for any advice and tips. Can anyone post similar images that they have achieved using Maxwell?

Many thanks,

Nik

I haven't done an exterior night scene in Maxwell yet but I've done plenty of them in other programs. One thing that you need to make clear to your employer and clients is that the images you produce no matter how technically correct are only an artists interpretation on what that building is going to look like. You need to make this absolutely clear to them or you may be looking at more than just an unhappy client if the images don't jive with the building when it's finished.
