I was supposed to get 10 dual core Athlon 5000 system in but apparently AMD is having big trouble producing enough of these chips and as a result I can't get these systems right now. I've been looking for a replacement and I would like to know which of the Woodcrest chips compare in price and performance to the Athlon X2 5000+. Any information is appreciated as I know noting about the Woodcrest chips.

woodcrests are xeons, so they shouldn't be compared to athlon X2s, rather to opterons.
you may want to have a look at one of those conroe (E6xx series) instead. clock per clock the direct competitor should be the E6700, but I guess that even a E6300 should easily trash any X2.

Yeah, ....definitely.

.....but this Quad Core coming is sure to make everything out here just look vintage.

A dual Quad, ....how perfectly that would make use of this handy plusone license ............. :)

mmmmm...quad core...

I remember reading that the 771 socket for the new xeons should remain also for the quadcores. I'm not sure though, have to check it out. Then it would really make sense to get a dual xeon system now and later just upgrade the cpus.

I think I heard the same about the socket, From a business strategy it makes sense to not change it. Anyway, ....yeah, ...nice plan.
