Are You Running Maxwell on OS X?
If so, See Juan's Response Below:

Hi,
If you are getting a water mark it is because the license.dat is not properly located in your system, it has nothing to do with osX or Windows, in fact sure that in the console tab you can read "Demo version" in that case. Below it is enclosed a list of items to check in case of license issues.
By the way universal binaries will come soon, we are putting more resources in this area to do it asap.
Regards,
Juan
HOW TO FIX MAC OS X LICENSE ISSUES
-Check that there is only one version of Maxwell in the system. If there is more than one version, it could cause conflicts in the license detection system. Also assure there is not any version of Maxwell in the trash can, it is strongly recommended empty the trash can if getting license issues.
-To run Maxwell check license.dat file is in the right location: Browse to maxwell.app location ( usually Applications/Maxwell ) and crtl+click in maxwell.app-> “show package contents”; browse to Contents/MacOS and copy license.dat in this folder.
-To register Studio license, open it and go to menu/help/license file.. and choose the location of the license.dat file
-If there is any issue after checking the previous items open a terminal (Applications/utilities/terminal ) and follow this steps:
o In the terminal window change to the directory where Maxwell is installed by typing
cd /Applications/Maxwell/maxwell.app/Contents/MacOS
o Type ./mxcl –d
If it does not work, watch the message that appears in terminal that will contain useful info to know which is the issue.
-Repair OSX permisions.
