I took the liberty to create a channel in the name of Maxwell
And hopefully the users will follow.

Channel info:

IRC Network: WorldIRC
Description: WorldIRC: Random server
IRC Server: irc.worldirc.org
Ports: 6660-6667
Group: WorldIRC

Channel# Maxwell

What you'll need to do.
Download Mirc from http://www.mirc.com/
Install the app. and enter the information above for the server settings.
If you're using a router or something else blocking you to enter try to portmapp 6660-6667 and retry.

Maybe you could get your hands on a web based client to be able and join the new A-team

I seem to spend most of my time here at work and they block loads of sites, like imagshack, any thing with the words playstation, game. they block executables (the maxwell installation), and a host of other things like msn, irc, etc, and any web based email (except mine which they havn't found yet!)
The flip side is I can still use web boards, and we have a blisteringly fast download (i hit 8mb a second the other day).

If you know of a web baserd client that will do it let me know! that would probably work.

I hate IRC, don't want to invest time in understanding it either...
