Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

If possible I think it would be great if Maxwell could handle greyscale images eg. as bumpmaps, for example by internally converting them to RGB

Most texture packages supply bump, specular etc. as greyscale, so it would be very good to be able to select from such collections without having to manually convert these maps.

You are right  .. the reason I came up with this was that I was thinking about a more easy way to convert greyscale to RGB (as long as Maxwell does not support it internally), and maybe have greyscale maps automatically replaced by converted RGB maps so that Maxwell render could handle it without change. But then why not let the render handle the conversion internally .. but then I guess I am back at the old wish again (and no need to mention it). Sorry

In the year 2006 I'm not willing to discuss rgb instead of greyscale as a
workaround. Half the industry is working with grey maps when it comes
to alpha, bump etc.

It has to be supported native, and it's not too much to ask IMO.

Paint shop pro has a batch conversion system, for converting multiple files from one format to another. Ideal for this problem.

I have 9 texture collection cds which use greyscale images for bumpmap, which I need to convert for use with Maxwell.

I think Photoshop has a batch conversion but I can't remember for sure.

To have to convert every texture you need to use for a rendering to RGB
is just silly, either Maxwell converts those on-the-fly internally to whatever format it needs but it should be able to handle greyscale textures aswell as RGB and HDR and any other necessary. I sure don't wanna sit and convert everything to RGB, there's not enough free hdd space in this galaxy to do that..

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
