Hi,

Is there a way in Maxwell to render an object so that it just receives shadows.

i.e. I have a plane in my scene that I would like to receive shadows but is invisible otherwise.

I know in Cinema there is the compositing tag but this doesn't seem to work in Maxwell.

Tried searching the forum but could not find any info.

Thanks,
Kris

What you ask isn't possible with Maxwell Render. Maybe try some 'creative' compositing or postwork.

Maxwell operates as 'virtual photography' with all the physical limitations that scenario implies. If it cannot be done in the real world, it most likely cannot be done in Maxwell (within limits). A scene has to be setup in much the same way you would set it up if doing it for real with an actual camera and physical props.
