Hi there,
Just a few new beta renders which I created for comparisions reasons over at a cgtalk thread concerning Mental Ray vs. Vray vs. Maxwell. The scene has NOT been modeled by me you can download it somewhere in this thread. It is available in various formats. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread. ... ost2924548
here are my results. Rendered in about 10h each on a Dual Xeon 3.2 GHz. Denoising in Neat image, postwork in Photoshop.

well just amazingly fantastic, i checked out the forum entires too, with the mental ray comparisons, wow youve got some crazy renders going

just super big props on this one, really blew me away!

  again!

-----OHH only got 1 ctitique/suggestions

the third image with the "flash" apprach.
the only thing that stands out is the sharp spec in the monitor, I would suggest in photoshop to add a glow, or small lensflare, or make that spec anistrophic, if you look at glare on a real coated monitor, it will have a "double image" look, sometime, with some monitor coatings the spec glare will be a duller white, and the double image offset will be a greenish or putrple offset of that reflection- again due to the monitor coating- but if I would suggest changing anything is to dull down, or glow, or do something with that spec glare/reflection from the flash in the third image..

just a suggestion since these renders are freaking crazy!

To me the most impressive is the lamp image. I wonder how any other renderer would render this image with just a light source there. Look how the light spreads all the way to the far speaker, and then the wall next to it is colored yellow from the speaker. You can also make out the the deepest corner. In mental ray that whole area would probably just be a big black nothing, or you would have to make the single lightsource so strong it would wash out everything else on the desk. In Vray you would probably use the colormapping feature, but that would wash out other areas making worse contrast.
