Too bad as it would´ve made the process a lot quicker.

...they could´ve at least recommended a book or something...
Unfortunately who owns a basilica is often not interested (or just in lack of time!) in promulgation and who want to draw-research-learn often do not own a basilica.

Excellent work.

That might be true.

But still, just comparing with one of my earlier projects some years back when modeling the Budapest parliament building, they actually recommended quite a lot of resources for plans, measurements and other info.

Unfortunatly some of the books with the nicest plans were antiques and costed a small fortune. :)

More stuff.
I´ve started working on the back of the building. Still have the large tower as well as some other parts left here before i start working on the plate.

Update again.

I´ve finished up the tower and most of the building.
Right now i need to get all the pieces positioned properly and fine tune gaps where needed.
Statues and the plate left to do and than it´s time to start texturing the model.

They say that: "To get good rendering, you have to make good model." I think this should be in some modeling/rendering book etc. Great work! 8)

You are wonderfully obsessive!
How much would you sell the geometry for when complete. It looks like a TurboSquid flagship model in the making?

...........if not a little nuts ;-)

Haven´t though in those terms. People usually like clean wireframes and mine usually are anything but that. :)
Besides, i´m not sure how the model would work for other people, considering the large amount of objects, instanced, symmetry etc.

Alright, with everything positioned correctly, i did another test render with the completed parts.

Stats for the current model,
