Thanks Ivox and Hyltom :) it's actually quite simple even if it looks complex and detailed. It's all in the maps.. :)

Hm, btw i might create a whole series of rusty type materials and release them as a package. I got more maps which are useful at home so if i create one material a day then within a week or so i should have 7 materials for you guys.

kami: Hi and many thanks :) i'm flattered you think they're that good, but don't let them scare you.. i hope we will see some kickass materials from you too. No problem about sharing materials, i'd be happier if people used the materials instead of just stealing textures from them as most people seem to do. :/

Bubba: Thanks man :D yep the latest one is also the one i'm most satisfied with of all the recent one's i produced. For some reason it feels quite realistic, probably because of the displacement.

And it's Monday again, weekends are way to short.. anyhow this is what i been doing during the weekend. First of all i let my machine at work cook two Maxwell renderings of the Luxology head model with this latest material as i wanted to see what the endresult would look like after such a long time rendering it at a high resolution. The second thing i did was to spend the entire weekend, day and night creating a bunch of variations of the rusty iron material which i'm planning on sharing soon (hopefully today) but i didn't end up with as many variations as i wanted but i hope they will still be useful for something. ..and they took quite some time to create and to render.

Anyways, here are the results. I suggest you look at the fullres images :)

The 3k renderings ran for about 63 hours each at the same time on my work machine during the weekend. Although they suffer from mapping problems because they're not seamless and they're cubic mapped on the Luxology head model, they still look pretty sweet. :)

Tom: Thank you very much :oops: hard work pays off as you see :) and i'll be uploading all these to the MXM Gallery today so you can pick them apart if you want.

Teabag: Thanks man :) masterclass materials, i like the sound of that hehe ..but i'm not sure how useful they actually are for any real scenes as they are quite complex and detailed with high displacement settings, this makes them very timeconsuming to render for anything besides tests.

[Edit] : Materials are on their way up now.. :)
