The share file of the material will be available in the coming days.
This rendering as been done using rhinoll plugin...the scene will be available after Thomas's approval.
8) 8) Excellent material ... quite refined ... I watched you spending a lot of time on it on the other thread in the forum.

P.S. If you choose to share, there is no need for a scene (we already have the mxs file) ... only the material mxm will suffice.

I was messing with frosted polycarbonate material the other night and did a test. 1.1 came out and I rerendered another test this afternoon. The 1.0 version took 11hrs to get to SL 16 and become clear. The 1.1 version took 2 hours to get to SL 10.5 and looks a little better also. Talk about a speed boost. Roughness was set to 50% on the tests by the way. It still doesnt look perfect though to me. I have the ND set to 1.58 which is what clear polycarbonate is. Should I change this if I have roughness applied though? Something about it looks fake, but I can't put my finger on it. Any ideas?

Also it looks like the lighting or materials have changed from 1.0 to 1.1 if you look at the grey floor. I did not change any of the camera settings or lighting parameters by the way.

Yes, it seems to have changed ... thank you catching that !

The scene exposure has now been recalibrated for v1.1 ... the shutterspeed needed adjustment from 4.35 to 4.5 (new link is available at the first post)

Hi Thomas, very nice material scene. Maybe just emitter from part of inside sphere would be good to see some sss effects.

Now that looks like carpaint  Could you share your settings or mxm. It looks like there is metal flake in there? Or is that noise?

Nice material hytom............only thing that doesn't look quite right is the highlight, the brushed finish should 'pull' the highlight in strands, bit like this but it's not perfect yet:

Amusingly enough, it's noise, and the good part is, the rest clears up while that aspect doesn't for long. The 2nd one looks more flakey aswell normally but i let it cook unattended for many hours so it eventually lost it. I have a pretty dark ground layer that i believe causes the effect. I'll upload some materials including these as soon as i get some problems sorted.

I know, at this scale my bump is not enough so the highlight doesn't follow the brushed lines. I also think that the anisotropy is not enough...it should go from the top to the bottom of the sphere. Still need some improvment...but no time during these few days  . I also read that there has been some improvment of the anisotropy and the bump with V1.1, so may be the material will looks different now.

Cool. I have noticed with 1.1 those areas that held a lot of noise for a long time seem to go away much quicker now. Were those rendered with 1.1 or 1.0? Give it a go with 1.1 and you will see what I mean.
