Just my two cents
I think in the past, what have crate the most well-known 3d software was the ability to integrate third party plugin.
In this competition Max win the competition mostly for his versatility of plugin market.
Take the example with VRAY, Max have sell a very impressive number of license with this plug-in.
Today the bad news is that the monopoly of max is a reality, but is also a pachyderm software where the layout and the interaction interface is old as it was 7 years ago.
Cinema start to have is club but he have to face with a unfair competition with autodesk.
I am a user of formz wich for me is the best polygonal modeling tool around since the start of this market.
But i have learn to use other soft, to see all possibilty,the diffrence makes the hope for powerfull solution, there will be other reality wich they are coming like modo and so on.
I really hope that all plugin software will integrate all connection with all 3d software and leave to the popularity the choice of decision.
I have voted for every single software so I hope maxwell team will work on all plug in and update them and if they copile for other 3d software they will give a chance to other solution.

I beleive Jomaga has told me that you can export to 3ds, reimport it into AutoCad and the export it to DXF.
Have you tried that?
