Looking a lot better, although it just occurred to me why the outside image is so weird....

It's because the light you show coming in the window is at a somewhat steep angle suggesting a sun fairly high in the sky. In the background image the ground plane and the vertical surfaces seem to both be in shade (or not be at all in contrast with each other). There should be either darker shadows on the buildings or brighter horizontal surfaces or both.
